What can I say, I have the cutest little boy ever! Kaleb started a new trick today, spitting. Fantastic. It is pretty funny when he tries to do it with his binky in! I know I say this every time, but I still can't believe how big he is and that it has already been 6 months! Being a mom is so much fun!

DFA in SLC
On Thursday and Friday we went down to Salt Lake to a DFA confrence. Something that I wouldn't recommend taking a 6 month old to! He was good but you could tell the poor kid was bored, we spent the majority of the time in our hotel room while Jeff went to the meetings. Thursday night we went to Temple Square to see all of the lights, it was cold but lots of fun, and very pretty. I haven't been down there for quite a while so it was fun to be able to have some time to go. Here are some pictures of the funness, and a video of Kaleb rolling, he is a pro now (well going from front to back anyway). He has been doing it for about 3 weeks now. Him and his dad were playing a game, Jeff would put him on his tummy and when Kaleb would roll over he would tickle him and get him laughing so hard; his little cackle is the cutest! But of course when I got the camera out he didn't find it nearly as funny!

All bundled up to brave the cold!

I liked the red tree but the light pole was in the way!

Kaleb doesn't really get the concept of look at the camera and smile quite yet!

A little better :) At least he is looking at the camera this time.

This is dad and Kalebs trick that mom doesn't like, I am always so paranoid that Kaleb is going to hit the floor one of these days.

Let the count down begin
I quit my job on Monday! My last day will be December 31st. I gave them a long notice so that they will have time to get someone hired and started training so that it doesn't all get dumped on a co worker again! (that is what happened when I went on maternity leave) I am so excited, I will finally be able to just be at home all the time, take care of things around here, and play with Kaleb! No more waking him up from naps to go to Lainee's house, no more making sure he is on the right schedule so he only has to have a bottle once while there, he will be able to actually take good naps and eat when he wants rather than when I want him too. My last shift in the ER will be this weekend the 1/2. Then I will just work in the business office until the 31st and I will be done. I am going to stay PRN but I don't think I will be picking up a lot of shifts unless I really need to!
Kaleb and I got to experience thrush the last few days, that was fun. Actually it wasn't too bad. I went to the pharmacy and got some Gentian Violet(well actually mom bought it, thanks!) and put it in his mouth that night and the next day it was gone! It was pretty funny because it made his mouth all purple, then he of course stuck his fingers in his mouth, so they were all purple, he always tries to bite my shoulder so I had purple mouth prints all over it, and he also ended up with some purple toes. It was great.

I can sit!
Ok so he is still a little bit wobbly, but he sat for like 10 seconds all by himself a few times today! I can't believe how big he is getting, I love watching him learn and be able to do new things it is so much fun! I have been able to stay home all day with him today which I haven't been able to do for a long long time it seems like, and I am loving it! Just thought I would share his new achievement with you all!

23 November 2007
Jeff and Kaleb came and visited me at work and we got some chocolate creme pie, it was Kaleb's first taste and he loved it! We gave him pumpkin pie later and he really liked it too... too bad he doesn't like the food that is good for him as much as he likes pie!
Grandma bought him a Christmas present before he was even born, I think she got it last Christmas! But she was worried that it wouldn't fit him so he got to open it for Thanksgiving.
This is the hat that goes with the out fit that is on his tray, it is 9 months size which is what he wears now, so hopefully he won't grow too much and it will still fit him in a month!
We hope everyone had a very Happy Thanksgiving!

5 Months
We had a hard time getting good pictures of Kaleb this month, he is very wiggly and didn't want to smile unless he was in some weird position. Kind of like he was saying ha ha to us or something. He was 5 months old on Sunday- crazy! He is so much fun! Sometimes he is kinda difficult, the last little while he doesn't let me get anything done, he has to have 100% of my attention- he won't sleep or anything he just wants me to play with him, then I go to work and he pretty much sleeps the whole time I am gone, so I still don't get anything done at home! That is ok though- I would rather make my baby happy than wash the dishes!

Happy Halloween!
Kaleb was a Dronkey for Halloween, thanks to my parents buying him a costume! Yeah I am a slacker and never got one so my mom and dad ended up going and getting him one at the last minute! He looked pretty darn cute if I do say so myself. We took him to a couple of houses and then we went up to the USU basketball game. Kaleb does NOT like loud noise, especially sudden loud noises. Basketball games are full of loud noise! The people behind us were so loud- even for me, I was getting a headache. I took him up and walked around with him for a minute and he fell asleep so I went and sat back down with Jeff- mistake. He was good for a minute but then one of they Aggie guys stole the ball and went down and dunked it- it got loud! It scared the poor kid, he jumped big time, I felt so bad. Then he just snuggled and looked around for a while but when it started to get toward the end of the game and it was close, it got loud again and he did not like it! So Jeff ended up going and walking around with him the rest of the game! He even had ear plugs in, poor kid! Next time I guess we'll have to get a baby sitter!

Breastmilk only please...
Tonight we tried giving Kaleb rice cereal for the first time. I don't think he was a big fan of it. He would just let it sit in his mouth for a while, not swallow or do anything. We also tried giving him pear juice. Didn't like that too well either. He would start sucking and then when some juice got in his mouth he would spit the bottle out real fast! Then we are supposed to give him a vitamin twice a day, I tried just using the dropper and putting it in his mouth this morning and that didn't go over to well. So tonight I put it in one of those little medicine bottle thingy's and put a little juice in with it to see if he would take it that way, but it didn't work the greatest. I ended up just squeezing a little vitamin/juice into his mouth at a time and then he would swallow it, it took a few minutes- but hey we got it down him! Then after all of that I nursed him, and he chowed right down- he definitely knows what he likes!

We also bought a new car! I am way excited about it! It is a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe with only 3660 miles on it! We really like it :)

I want attention!
I think this is pretty funny when Kaleb does his talking/yelling spills, so I thought I would share it! I don't know what to do with the kid- He didn't eat very good at 8 this morning, then I made him stay awake until 11 and he wouldn't eat at all then he just wanted to go to sleep, so I let him sleep, but he only slept for about 20-25 minutes, I tried feeding him again and he wouldn't eat again! Aaahhh! It is driving me crazy! At least right now he is content playing with his toys and isn't demanding attention for a couple minutes! I love my baby!

New Tricks
Kaleb has found his feet this past month and it is so funny to watch him! I put him under his mobile and he always turns himself sideways, today he got himself turned all the way around completely opposite of the way I had put him under it. He grabs a hold of his feet/legs and pulls them towards him and then rocks from side to side, he hasn't rolled all the way over yet but he is getting pretty close! If he liked being on his tummy for more than 2 minutes at a time he might already have it down! Go baby go!

4 months already?!
I can't believe Kaleb is already 4 months old! where did the time go? He is getting SO big now, he weighs in at 17 lbs., he talks all the time, he has found his feet and is getting close to being able to roll over- It's so crazy! It is so fun though, I love to hear his little giggle it is the cutest thing ever. I try to record him laughing so I can put it on here- but he always just stops and watches me when I get the camera out. Isn't this picture so cute?! We went to physical therapy for the first time on Tuesday. Kaleb has plagiocephaly; one side on the back of his head is too flat. So we went and the PT gave us some things to try at home to get it to go away. I guess if we leave it, supposedly it can cause problems with vision or hearing later on, I don't really know. But I don't dare not do what they say. Our other option if PT doesn't work is for him to wear a helmet that costs 1-2,000 dollars- so hopefully this works! We went up to Adelyn's a few weeks ago-ok like a month ago, anyway-here are some pictures from then, they are pretty funny :)
Kaleb and Sam, only one of them would smile at a time! Do they look like they are only 1-2 lbs. apart in weight to you?
And what can I say, like father like son! (or however that goes!) Kaleb and his daddy (yes he is a big time daddy's boy) taking a nap on the couch.

Welcome Home!
Last night Jeff's youngest brother, Paul, came home from his mission in Veracruz, Mexico! A bunch of us went down to meet him at the airport. His flight was supposed to get in at 10:40- however it was delayed until 11:32, we finally saw Paul at about 11:45. This is the first time Kaleb and I have met him, since Jeff and I got married a few months after he left. It was pretty funny, Paul went around hugging everybody, came over and we shook hands and hugged, and then Brad says "This is my fiance"... Talking about me. The look on Paul's face was priceless! He hesitated for a second and then was like- "no, she goes with him I though" pointing to Jeff. It was really funny! So we ended up getting home at about 2:00 or 2:30 this morning, and both Jeff and his dad had to milk at 4:30 this morning, so I am tired, but I am sure they are even more tired! Here are some pictures from the night!

Dan kept walking in front of the camera.

Paul and Dad. Mom and Janet and Kaleb are all there too :)

Alan waiting, Paul was quite surprised by the facial hair!

Jeff and Paul

Look close and you can see Pam and Paul and Lawrence on the left!

Brad and Paul

Me and Paul, that is Brad in the background getting ready to tell Paul I am his fiance! So So funny!
It was a fun night but everyone is quite tired now!

BIG Boy!
CONSPIRACY THEORY
So I think China is out to get us. They are going to try and take over or something. Kinda random I know, but if you think about it, they send us toys with lead based paint in them- that way little kids chew on them and get lead poisoning and die. And then there is all the canned food contaminated with botchulism to attack the bigger people. And the most recent one is the recall of cribs from China, I haven't heard much about that one because I haven't watched the news recently, but they are back to the little ones again. I think maybe they are concentrating heavily on the small children because if they do away with them- then all of us older people will slowly die off, and there will be no one left afterwards, and then they will take over the U.S. So their plan will take several years of course, but I guess it will be worth it to them or something?! Anyway- that is my thought on that- if it makes any sense at all. I could just be full of it and letting my imagination go to far with it, we'll just have to see. Hopefully we are all still alive in 20 years to know- You have to admit, it is interesting at least :)

I am still laughing!
I got this story from my sister-in-law a few days ago, I had seen it before, but it was still funny to read it again- and today I keep thinking about it and laughing, you will understand why at the end :)
I Love Mustard. (This is a true story. If you have children you will probably relate to this father.)
As ham sandwiches go, it was perfection: a thick slab of ham on a fresh bun with crisp lettuce and plenty of expensive, light brown, gourmet mustard.
The corners of my jaw aching in anticipation, I carried it to the table in our backyard, picked it up with both hands but was stopped by my wife suddenly at my side.
"Here, hold Johnny (our six-week-old son) while I get my sandwich," she said.
I had him balanced between my left elbow and shoulder and was reaching again for the ham sandwich when I noticed a streak of mustard on my fingers.
I love mustard.
I had no napkin
I licked it off.
It was not mustard.
No man ever put a baby down faster. It was the first and only time I have sprinted with my tongue protruding. With a washcloth in each hand, I did the sort of routine shoeshine boys do; only I did it on my tongue.
Later, after she stopped crying from laughing so hard, my wife said,

"Now you know why they call that fancy mustard.........Poupon."

So today in Sacrament meeting, I noticed kaleb had a smelly diaper, rather than running and changing him right away, I waited for a few minutes while I read over my sunday school lesson(another story), and to make sure he was finished. Jeff was holding Kaleb. I looked over and Kaleb was falling a sleep so I whisper to Jeff, "He needs his butt changed before he goes to sleep" We go back and forth a minute about who should go change him, and finally I give in. I don't like to go in the middle of someone speaking, but we got a new bishopric today so they all only spoke for a few minutes and we didn't . Anyway, so I put the diaper bag on my shoulder, stand up and Jeff hands Kaleb to me, his back is against me and I am holding onto his legs. As I am walking out I feel something on my hand, great, an explosive one. Anyway I get to the bathroom and lay him down and it was all over the back of his pants and his onsie. Luckily it didn't make it to the outter one, just the "undershirt" one. He basically got a baby wipe bath. As I am cleaning him up it hits me- he was sitting on Jeffs lap! So I'm thinking hopefully it isn't all over Jeff, and if it is, has he noticed? I got him all taken care of, and head back to the chapel. Jeff slid over and I sat down by him, then trying not to grin too much I say, "Do you have poop on your pants?" He looked at me funny and then at his pants he didn't see any at first, but sure enough, there was some- in two different spots! It was HILLARIOUS! So hard not to bust up laughing right then, but we were in church :) After a few minutes Jeff was like, "Man why did you have to tell me..." and then again later, "That is not mustard!" Anyway...long story I know, but I have been laughing about it for a while, so I just thought I would share the humor!

Talking Kaleb
Yesterday Kaleb was talking so much, it is sooo cute! When we got home we laid on the bed with him and he just kept talking! Of course he didn't do it as much when I got the camera out though, oh well it is still really cute! And he wouldn't stop trying to suck his fist at the same time, we had to keep taking it away :)

...and wuv, twu wuv...
So on my way home the other night I was listening to the John Tesh (sp?) radio show (I like listening to it!) He was saying there are 4 things girls should make sure the guys they are interested in DON'T have, before they commit to marrying him. They are:
1. Movie star physique- if they have a perfect bod then they are too concerned with that instead of things they really should worry about.
2. A fancy wardrobe and a flashy car- this could mean that they aren't necessarily good with finances, they spend their money on the unimportant things like expensive clothes and car and don't save for the future.
3. A high priority job- if they have to work 60+ hours a week, then when they come home they are too tired to support you in the things that you would like to do.
4. A perfect past- most people learn from their "mistakes" if they have a perfect past then they have to learn from their mistakes from you, and who wants that? So don't be jealous of those old girlfriends, welcome the baggage along with your man!
Now I am sure that I didn't quote everything exactly how he said it, but pretty close :) And I wouldn't think that if a guy does have these things, you shouldn't even look at him, it doesn't really mean he isn't marriage material, I just found it interesting.
I did pretty good, my husband doesn't have 3/4 of these things, he has a fairly high priority job you could say- and I thought it was funny as I was listening, how he said if he works a lot he is too tired when he comes home- and that is definitely the truth!! I think I would take one of the other traits over that one- well, Jeff is really good with money, and he doesn't really care about clothes and things like that- which I like so, I wouldn't trade that but ya know- I would love to have a non tired husband every now and then!

SLEEP.....
So Kaleb has slept clear through the night for the past four nights! Why then am I so stinking tired? You would think that I would get a good nights sleep now too, but I think I actually felt less tired when I was getting up and feeding him during the night- weird! I think I must wake up a lot more and check on him to make sure he is still breathing because he isn't waking me up anymore.
He is STUBBORN! He will NOT take a bottle, from anyone- not anyone. He used to take one just fine- but now I have tried 4 or 5 different bottles and he won't take it, it's not even formula- I pump at work so he is still getting the same food, just from a different source- but he won't have it. Maybe it is his own way of protesting my return to work. Who knows! I do not know what to do though! During the week I only work 4 hours a day so he won't starve to death. But then I work every-other weekend in the ER- and that is an 8 hour shift- plus the half hour drive to and from-I don't think he can go that long!
Yesterday was my first day back in the ER since Kaleb arrived, and it was kinda funny when I sat down I thougt: the last time I sat in this chair, my water broke :) A couple of weeks ago Callie was covering my shift becuase I was still on maternity leave, and she was quite large with child herslef. Ashley told her that she was not allowed to go into labor while she was here because she didn't want to go through that again! I thought it was pretty funny.
Anyway- I could probably ramble on about a bunch of stuff that is most likely only interesting to me because I am at work, and quite bored, but I won't!

3 Months!
I can't believe Kaleb is already 3 months old! He has started to giggle now and it is so cute- I love it! He always has huge smiles for me, he is such a happy baby. We weighed him today and he is 15 lbs 9 oz!! Getting to be quite the little chubber! Funny how when you are little, everyone tells you how cute your rolls are, but people don't look at me now and tell me how cute my rolls are-geez :) Anyway, we have such a happy healthy baby, he is so much fun- we love him to pieces!
I know, how many pictures of a sleeping baby do you need? But I love how he has his feet crossed. He always crosses them, when we got our first ultrasound of him, he had his feet crossed and his arms up around his head, and he still likes to be like that now, he doesn't keep his hands right by his head when he is asleep now, but he has to have them there and his nose nuzzled somewhere to fall asleep, I think he is the cutest baby ever, even if I am a little biased!

He got it!
He finally actually really got his thumb this time! He is alway suckin on his fists and trying to get his thumb, sometimes he kinda gets it, but we always move his hand and give him his bink. Today I was watching TV and Jeff had put him in his swing, a few minutes later I walked by to go get something and when I looked at him this is what I saw- little stinker! I am afraid that no matter how hard I push the binki(sp?) he is still going to suck his thumb if he wants. Even tonight on the way home I could hear him back there in his car seat sucking on his fist again! Yesterday I was nursing him in the mothers lounge at church and another mom came in and was saying that her little girl is almost 8 and still sucks her thumb! That is why I don't want Kaleb too so bad, I can throw away a binki but I couldn't cut off the poor kids thumbs! What do you do?!

Cat Napper
So I had put Kaleb in his crib to sleep. Not ten minutes later I could hear him talking and playing around in there, so I went in to check on him and he had pulled this blanket down halfway over his head! He didn't even seem to care that it was in his face, then after I took a picture he started waving his arms around more and pulled it back off- he cracks me up! Lately he will fall asleep so I go lay him down and then just a few minutes later he is awake again happy as can be ready for me to play with him- one of these days I'll have to make him stay awake longer so that he will take a good nap instead of little cat naps all day- but that day is not today :)
